The Social Anthropologist

I am a global nomad with a social conscience traveling the world taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of different societies and cultures. This is what i have discovered along the way.
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
The first time I came to Brazil was in 1997 with a backpack and my best friend as my only companions. We started in Iquitos Peru, took a plane across the Amazon Jungle of Brazil to Manaus and then hopped aboard a Cargo ship which took us to the East Coast town of Recife. From there we took buses down the Coast stopping in cities along the way, Fortaleza (renown for its kite surfing), Natal, Canoa Quebrada ( a one road beachtown with a star and half crescent moon as its symbol), Olinda, Pelhourino, Salvador in Bahia, Arraial D’Ajuda, Trancosso and of course Rio de Janeiro. Ironically I only spent one night in Rio de Janeiro because my traveling companion went back to Australia earlier than I and at the ripe old age of 20 I was too scared to venture out on my own.
