Courchevel
Recommended Places to Stay
Courchevel mountain is split up according to altitude points starting at 1300 right up to 1850. Given you can ski in and ski out of your lodge at 1850 and quickly link up to the other two valleys 1850 is the most fashionable place to stay on the mountain.
Hotel Cheval Blanc 1850 - The Cheval Blanc is an experience indeed. Its ownership by the LVMH is obvious in every detail from the scent of the Cheval Blanc candles that permeates through every corridor to the wooden cuckoo clocks that greet you as you exit the elevator. Nothing is left to chance in this luxury hotel. Two of the most elaborate experiences I have had the fortune to experience to date were at the Cheval Blanc. The first at their Michelin star restaurant 1947 and the second at their cigar lounge. The Cheval Blanc have created a cosy den of mischief in an authentic Mongalian yurt for cigar patrons. Beautifully crafted wooden chairs draped in cowhide invite you to sit as you enjoy your cigar and wine. Although I did not partake in a cigar a backgammon board, a bottle of wine and a viewing of Master Chef with my best friend was quite a memorable way to spend my last night in Courchevel. Avg Nightly rate - You don’t want to know. www.chevalblanc.com
Alpes Hotel Du Pralong 1850 - Hotel Du Pralong is a modern Chalet at 1850 with direct access to the slopes of Pralong and a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. It is extremely popular and is often booked out a year in advance so if you are interested in reserving a spot I’d get in early. Avg nightly rate 500 Euros www.hotelpralong.com
Hotel Le New Solarium 1850 - I skied past this hotel everyday and was constantly intrigued at what its accommodations might be as from the exterior it looked modern and welcoming. Located in the heart of Jardin Alpin Village at 1850 Le New Solarium offers modern style rooms whilst incorporating a wooden chalet feel. Avg nightly rate 400 Euros www.hotelnewsolarium.com
Hotel La Pomme de Pin 1850 - Hotel La Pomme de Pin offers generously sized chalet rooms with modern amenities as well as ski in ski out capabilities. The highlight of staying in this Hotel is not only the unbelievable mountain views from every window in the hotel but the Michelin star restaurant by Jean Pierre Jacob on the top floor, Bateau Ivre. As my photos make clear there is nothing like eating exceptional food with an exceptional view. Avg nightly rate 400 Euros www.pommedepin-courchevel.com
Hotel Bellecote 1850 - Hotel Bellecote is a Chalet style hotel that offers a very rustic mountain experience at a reasonable price. For those that prefer to ski all day and stay out all night this hotel offers simple yet charming lodgings with the ability to ski in and ski out which is always a bonus. Avg nightly rate 300 euros www.lebellecote.com
Hotel Les Ancolies 1550 - If you are working on a budget, which is hard to do in Courchevel, there are a number of Chalets that offer decent rooms lower down the mountain such as Hotel Les Ancolies at 1550. Although the accommodations are simple, what more do you need than a bed, breakfast and a beautiful mountain at your feet. Avg nightly rate 200 www.lesancolies.fr
