NEW YORK FASHION WEEK @ LINCOLN CENTRE - FEBRUARY 2012
After a long day of fashion intensity at New York’s fashion week you need a late night place for a few nibblies and a drink. These are my favorites.
Late Night Eateries
Blue Ribbon Cafe - 97 Sullivan Street, Soho, New York, 212 337 0404 - Great late night spot open till 4am. Located in the heart of Soho, Blue Ribbon has a vibrant raw seafood bar and an eclectic menu including sweet and spicy catfish, paella basquez, foie gras terrine, and a great prawn cocktail. The have a lock in at 4am allowing you to eat and drink till the wee hours which is always fun. NB: They take bookings for parties of five or more.
Minetta Tavern - 113 MacDougal Street, New York , in Greenwich Village, 212 475 3850 This is my favorite late night dining spot. Intimate with a touch of arrogance, Minetta Tavern serves hearty fare with a french influence. The Bone marrow is a must as is any red wine on the menu. Book well in advance as usually takes four weeks for a reservation.
Employees Only–510 Hudson Street, West Village - Run by some of the most accomplished bar tenders in New York ( who also run the esteemed Macau Trading in Tribeca), Employees Only finds its name from the Prohibition Era where alcohol had to be served behind closed doors, disguised as places for Employees Only. Renown for its inventive cocktails as well as its well stocked wine list. A curved bar enables you to spot singles on the other side of the room if you are that way inclined or just sit by yourself and enjoy the mayhem of the twirling bottle mixologists behind the bar. The steak tartare is not to be missed even at 4am.
The Spotted Pig - 314 West 11 street, New York, 212 620 0393 - One of my favorite late night spots, The Spotted Pig, is a tri- level gastro-pub in the West Village reminiscent of an English pub you’d find in Notting Hill or on Westbourne Grove in London. Owned by Jayzee, British chef April Bloomfield, who previously worked alongside Jamie Oliver, delivers a fusion of British and Italian cuisine. Devils on horseback are a personal favorite as well as the burger with a roquefort cheese dressing accompanied by slim cut rosemary fries. Mental note: the menu is very heavy and meat oriented so if you are looking for something light this is not the right spot.
